Description of Services
- Determining corporate responsibility for institutional care, including management autonomy afforded to facility Administrators and Nursing Directors
- Determining deviation or adherence to long-term care standards of care
- Determining deviation or adherence to standards of practice for Nursing Home Administrators
- Reviewing negative resident outcomes against OBRA 87 regulatory doctrines, including whether circumstances were "avoidable" versus "unavoidable"
- Researching unusual care-giving standards
- Evaluating care-giving environments from a safety and risk management perspective, including the use of building and personal alarm systems
- Evaluating compliance and effectiveness of nursing staffing levels
- Evaluating compliance and effectiveness of facility policies, procedures, and protocols
- Evaluating the effectiveness of staff orientation, training, and in-service education
- Comprehensive case reviews
- Written opinions and reports
- Conferences via telephone or in person
- Deposition preparation and appearance
- Trial preparation and appearance
- Preparing a list of technical questions to assist attorney’s during deposition and trial
- Conducting seminars and risk management assessments for law firm clients
Managing or consulting with long-term care companies is my primary occupation. This involvement allows me to keep abreast of important industry changes, stay in touch with "hands-on" care-giving issues, and remain fresh and objective.
